David Axelrod: Trump Sounds Like He's 'Jealous' of the Esteem Obama Left Office With

Former Obama senior adviser David Axelrod spoke with CNN’s Michael Smerconish this morning about President Trump rolling back his predecessor’s legacy.

Between the announcements about health care subsidies and the Iran deal, Axelrod said that Trump is clearly motivated by trying to “obliterate” Barack Obama‘s presidency.

He defended the former president and said Obama will “go down in history in very positive terms,” before making this observation:

“There’s some other thing at play here that I don’t have the qualifications to analyze that clearly motivates him. Because every time he talks about anything that President Obama did, he talks about it in these very caustic terms as if he’s jealous or envious of the esteem with which Obama left office.”

I also think that he expected a lot of praise for destroying PBO initiatives and all he's getting is flack which is making him angrier and angrier. I don't think he is able to understand why PBO has a 68% approval while he's in the 30's.
