A restaurant in Tucson, Arizona closed indefinitely after sparking backlash for a pro-Donald Trump Facebook post that expressed support for standing for the national anthem, god and drug screening welfare recipients.
Cup It Up American Grill, which offers salads and entrees in cup form, shuttered its doors on Monday, leaving only taped signs expressing gratitude to the military and first responders.
Dear Loyal fans and Patrons of Cup it Up American Grill, the signs read. We have made a decision to close our doors indefinitely as of today, Monday, October 9, 2017. The safety of our employees, and our families is of great concern and is our #1 priority at this time. We would also like to extend a special thanks to our Military and First responders. Thank you all and God Bless.

The decision comes after Cup It Up posted a lengthy statement on Facebook, extolling the restaurants support for OUR PresidentDonald J. Trump and its lack of support for fake news, political correctness and late night hosts getting political.

(50,562 posts)I guess people were eating the stuff (at least until the management decided to piss off their customer base), but I prefer my foods separated on the plate, thanks.

(35,091 posts)Election night: Oh man, Trump is president, he's gonna give us some tax cuts and soon we'll be the biggest restaurant in town.
Next month: Uh, dude, all those victory signs and parties that you paid for by 'borrowing' from accounts put us in a hole but I'm sure we'll be fine.
Next month: Man, when is Trump going to deport all those Mexicans?
...
Eventually: Dude, we're not getting out of this, how can we bail, jump on a GoFundMe train, and make us look like the victims here?
Other dude: I've got it!

(33,037 posts)That post sparked immediate controversy. Two employees quit after angry former customers inundated the restaurant with phone calls, and online reviewers flooded websites like Yelp with negative posts.
People threatened to burn down the restaurant with the owners in it. Its a crazy world were in, Ron Sanchez, the grandparent of a former worker at Cup It Up, told ABC 15.

I wonder if they were so "patriotic" for the previous president. (I know the answer).

(2,787 posts)what is more than likely a large part of your customer base you deserve to go out of business. If they just said they liked the president that would've been bad enough, but could've been overlooked. However that's not all they did. They doubled down by outlining a laundry list of policies they supported or were against. Among those policies they said they were opposed to were entitlements which would include social security, medicare and medicaid. They might as well have said to customers of theirs that benefit from such programs we want the government to take stuff away from you. The owners of that place are so tone deaf they still don't get this. Then they tripled down with their last statement which basically meant if you don't agree with us we don't want your business. Well they got what they asked for.

(31,261 posts)You see their anti salad signs all over their jacked up pickups. Owners no too smart, they likely insulted 90% of their customer base.

(35,091 posts)It's "entitlements" in the form of farm subsidies which lowers the price of fruits and vegetables they put into their salads.
