Morning Joe Rips Trump's Media Attacks: 'Channelling Chairman Mao and Joseph Stalin'

Trump kicked off Thursday as he usual does, on Twitter, slamming NBC News for their report that Tillerson referred to the president as a “moron” because of a comment he made about increasing the country’s nuclear arsenal tenfold. The president continued his attacks on the press in a White House photo-op later in the afternoon, and derided the media as “fake news” on Fox in the evening, much to Sean Hannity’s delight.
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough started by comparing Trump to dictators Chairman Mao and Joseph Stalin, because he refers to the media the “enemy of the people.” He added that the 25th amendment is being talked about as a means of removing Trump from office, particularly in light of his recent attacks on the First Amendment.
“It’s an attack on the media to be sure, but more profoundly, it’s an attack on the First Amendment,” Mark Halperin said, before noting that people in Trump’s own party have begun questioning his fitness for office.
On Trump’s complaints that the press can write whatever they want, Katty Kay of the BBC said that she doesn’t “know if the president understands how news organizations work,” reminding him of the strict protocols in place for reporting. “This is authoritarianism 101,” MSNBC’s Willie Geist added. “You delegitimize the press, you delegitimize your opponents and then you try to destroy them.”

Let's hope our system with the Constitution intact, holds. Our Nation is being tested like never before.
