Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHow many here expect Karl Rove to be Mitt's VP choice?
The heat over the tax papers is getting so warm I'm thinking Mitt will make his pick known soon to deflect the attention from his Tax woes. Could be a wild choice if Mitt is forced to lay out his cards too soon. Could even be Jeb, Dick Cheney or Joe LIEberman?

(58,704 posts)Wild speculation, but unlikely.
I suspect it wouldn't work well, either. Although it might deflect from Romney's troubles, it opens a big can of worms that NO conservative would want brought out into the light.
I can almost hear the Obama team chuckling at that prospect.

(147 posts)Nope, not going to happen. Bet he picks a fellow LDS like Huntsman.

(33,497 posts)Jeb=No he's waiting until 2016 and doesn't want to be associated with Romney.
The Dick= come on the guy has had how many heart attacks and now has a pig's heart? No.
Lieberman= that one isn't as inconceivable, but highly unlikely. He's pro-choice. Pro-gay rights. He voted for Obamacare and for the Stimulus.

And if Karl Rove ever melts down the fallout would kill anything big enough to die!

(2,097 posts)First of all, Rove has no electoral experience and gigantic negatives. There's just no way. (I'm trying to remember the last time the Veep pick was someone who had never before been elected to public office. I'm guessing Nixon's choice of Lodge in 1960.)
Edit: nope, turns out Lodge was once a senator before he went on to a career in diplomacy. Edit #2: turns out it was Sargent Shriver in '72; before him, it was Frank Knox on the GOP ticket in '36. Thanks for letting me get my geek on.
Second, Mitt needs someone who won't overshadow him -- he's already looking non-presidential enough.
It'll be a safe, boring choice.

I can only hope that Mitt pulls a John McSame trick and gives the nod to a ball and chain like Sister Palin.
Michele Bachmann comes to mind.(ouch)

(10,893 posts)Him jumping into the ring would bust the GOP plan wide open. He knows he needs to stay sort of behind the scenes and make attack ads.
