but she's pro status-quo on the issue of statehood for PR. That is, she supports maintaining PR's Commonwealth status and doesn't support Independence.

But my main question was is she eligible since she lives in a territory and not in one of the 50 states?

of electoral college votes.

According to Wikipedia, NYC is the biggest demographic and cultural center for Puerto Ricans outside of San Juan.

(P.R. has no electoral college votes, which makes it a less appealing spot to campaign from.)

Asking why she would move. My answer was meant to suggest that maybe she would move so she can actually vote for herself for president.

But what is it with some DUers who latch on to strong Democrats and suddenly want them all to run for POTUS?

Like those championing Michelle Obama for 2020. Does anybody realistically expect that she is the least bit interested?

Or Bernie running in 2020? Or Hillary? Or Joe Biden?

Maybe we can lasso Dick Gephardt. He'll only be 79 in 2020.

I love all these folks. But here's the deal. Mayor Cruz is doing a hell of a job where she is. She's needed there. This isnt America's Got Talent where we want to catapult popularity into the most powerful office on the planet. I think we can all now see the error in such thinking.

So yes, San Juan Mayor Cruz has awesome charisma and is not afraid to speak up when the circumstances call for it. But that alone does not make her qualified for POTUS. That's why it is a difficult office to achieve.

I would say this about her. She would likely restore honor to the office, from what I've seen of her recently.

I just am not willing to commit to any 2020 presidential candidate until we learn whether the Democrats survive 2018 midterms. That outcome is up to us.

Forget 2020 for now.
