A campaign spokesman for Manhattan prosecutor Cy Vance Jr. denied any wrongdoing Wednesday as the lawman returned a $31,000 contribution from President Trumps attorney.
The 2013 donation from Trumps longtime personal lawyer was sent back amid new revelations about Vances decision to pass on prosecuting Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr.
The First Family siblings came into the district attorneys crosshairs during Vances first term in office for allegedly duping prospective buyers in a failed Manhattan project dubbed Trump Soho.
Contributions have never influenced Cy Vances work and they never will, said Vance campaign spokesman Steve Sigmund in confirming the giveback.

(82,849 posts)Pretty weak tea there, Cyrus Jr. Still doesn't explain why the Trump SoHo deal was dropped like a hot potato right after the contribution hit your campaign coffers.

Too late.

(52,387 posts)The problem was the questionable decision not to indict jarvanka. Returning a contribution doesn't undo that questionable decision. Nor does it go back into the past and remove motive at the time.
Are we supposed to think, well I guess the decision to drop charges against them was ethical because he just wrote a check to their lawyer?
Of course jarvanka and their lawyer are thrilled, they got $31,000 worth of bribe and it didn't end up costing them anything!

(16,094 posts)Every contribution is vetted through a rigorous process, accepted when appropriate, and returned when flagged. Thats exactly what happened in this instance.
It took them 4 years to vet this contribution, 4 years isn't a rigorous process!!!

"Sorry, we can't do 35k, that is two much. How about 30k". "Call it 31k and we have a deal"

(4,839 posts)I called the DA's office this morning to learn that he is running un-opposed. Really couldn't speak to anyone this morning as they all connected me to 311. Even Schumer's office wasn't answering the phones. Some fu*king democracy we have.
