Dave Daubenmire Agrees That God Killed Those People Who Died In Las Vegas

On his “Pass The Salt Live” webcast this morning, Religious Right activist Dave Daubenmire approvingly quoted radical right-wing preacher James David Manning as he proclaimed that “God killed those people” who died in the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

“I love truth,” Daubenmire said. “Pastor Manning said, ‘Hey, we can deny this all we want to but God killed those people.’ He let [the attack] happen, He killed them. And he said, ‘You go back to the Old Testament and you go through that Old Testament all you want to and you know what you’re going to find out? God ordering people to kill people.’ He said, ‘God orders people to be killed.'”

“We’ve reached the point here in America where a lot of people are going to be killed,” Daubenmire said. “There are a lot of people gonna be killed. Why? Because it’s the judgment of God coming on America.”

“God’s going to be killing a lot of people,” he continued. “Now, we don’t like that theology, do we? We don’t like that theology, but it sure seems pretty good to me.”

(The Church as Christianity as a whole, NOT Daubenmire's sect), I find it more likely that when Daubenmire meets the Almighty face-to-face, the Almighty will tell him the truth--that his antics turned people AWAY from G*d and the faith, NOT towards it. It is well for this little cherub that enough of the rest of us still have enough vestigial respect for ministers that he can spout his cr*p up and down the street without being molested.

The right wing Christian and not Christians at all. I call them Old Testament Christians. You won't ever hear them refer to the New Testament, but always to the Old Testament.

They loves them some Old Testament because it is harsh and starkly authoritarian.

Yes, these folks are right. God kills all kinds of people in the Old Testament. There is the Great Flood. There is the immediate aftermath of Moses discovering that some of his people had created a golden calf to worship. Moses and Aaron killed thousands that night and God approved. Eventually leading the tribes to the Promised Land which was owned and occupied by the Canaanites. The Israelite's killed all that brooked them.

But God kills no one in the New Testament, but allows his son to be killed. Other than that there's not much blood. So, the Old Testament Christians pretty much ignore it.

This is it in a nutshell. Most religions sanction killing in the name of their god. These two are just cheer leading from the sidelines.

I would love to financially exterminate these cretins. Not because I think these attitudes would go away. They won't. This is just dark side of human nature showing itself.

But, why do we have to subsidize these psychos by granting them complete freedom from taxation? Let them pay for the privilege and see how many megachurches remain when the obscene profits go away.

It is really disgusting the way that religion and the right wing conservative Republican philosophy have become intertwined. I will say this is not true of all churches, but in my experience it's a great many. Baptists especially and United Methodist too in my area

When God decided to punish Houston for having had a lesbian mayor a while back, he didn't enlist any gun humper to shoot the place up. He did it in style, with a hurricane --albeit one that, AFAIK, didn't distinguish among victims according to how they'd voted.

I wonder if they're genuinely deluded, or if they're charlatans consciously playing to the rubes to keep the money and attention flowing in.

With any luck, I'll never get to know one of them well enough to find out.

I guess I was just assuming that they do hear what they say. Maybe you're right that it's neither delusion nor conmanship. They're just on autopilot.

Good to know, “Pastor” Manning. go read a fucking Bible sometimes. That’s not just crazy, it’s totally fucking stupid.

Also, it sure sounds to me like he’s personally advocating for mass murderers to kill whoever they want in the name of his weird Jesus. I hope the FBI is knocking at his door by now. He’s essentially shouting “fire” in a crowded theater.

There is a good chance one of the victims was a born again. There are country songs with lyrics about church. God would not attack a country music crowd. Heavy metal maybe.
