No CNN, the Las Vegas mass killer is not a 'gentle giant'

CNN's segment describing who Las Vegas mass killer Stephen Paddock was illustrates the problems with the media. To many, the piece is an attempt to humanize Paddock as they promote his neighbor's description of him as a gentle giant.

The article criticizes CNN essentially for reporting accurate information. Apparently, the author of the article would have preferred it if CNN had ignored all of those people who have stated that nothing about this guy set off alarms or made them suspect he might do something like this. Apparently, the author of the article would have preferred it if CNN had made up stories about the guy who did this monstrous act having clearly demonstrated monstrous tendencies in the past -- something to fit the narrative the author of the story apparently would prefer. In short, the author of the article would have preferred fake news to the real story -- that instead of reporting -- accurately -- that before he took up arms in a hotel in Las Vegas, Stephen Paddock was just another guy. That's actually an important piece of information and why the author of the article would prefer for it to be suppressed is curious.

"Neighbors shocked by the news," the CNN reporter continued. "Some even describing him as a gentle giant. 'We wouldn't recognize him as being anything out of the norm."

Sounds like this guys beef should be with the neighbors, not CNN for reporting it. This thread is a lot like the one accusing WaPo of "memorializing" him. Looking into his life isn't memorializing. It's just reporting things about the guy.
