1. I'm on the West Coast and happened to put on the news at 11:00 last night. The initial count was 2.

I couldn't stop watching the reports, and was horrified as it continued to grow (the count of 2 seemed highly unlikely, given the massive size of the response). At first it was 2 dead and 20 injured, and as the counts rose, all I could think of was the term massacre.

there was a photo circulating of what appeared to be 3 dead (surrounded by trash, blood on the legs of one, but no other people around). I was pretty sure, at that time, 2 only counted those who made it to the hospital alive.

I'm on the east coast, but I couldn't stop watching either - I left work ~4 AM, after the LV police finally gave their first statement.

3. With the Pulse shooting, I remember when the mayor came out and abruptly announced

that the toll was twice as high as had been initially reported, and everyone gasped.

I happened to be in Orlando last month, and we drove by Pulse. It was moving; there were barricades and memorials up, and people quietly grieving and crying at the scene. I was amazed at how much smaller it was than I'd imagined, and how horrific the scene must have been inside.
