Vegas killer checked into hotel with GIRLFRIEND's ID -- Marilou Danley.

Apparently she was out of the country when he did this.

Why would he have checked in with her ID?

Stephen Craig Paddock, the man police have identified as the Las Vegas gunman, was a quiet man with no criminal record or reports of erratic behavior before the shooting.

He was found dead in his hotel room as police entered.

His checked into a hotel room with his girlfriend's identification, police said, but she was found outside of the country and is not suspected to have played a role in the attack.

The Las Vegas police on Monday identified Stephen Craig Paddock as the man who opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino with what appeared to be an automatic rifle, killing more than 50 and injuring at least 515 others to local hospitals in the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.

The 64-year-old from Mesquite, Nevada, targeted concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival at about 10 p.m. PDT on Sunday, police said. They said Paddock had been in his hotel room since Thursday.

the manager at the front desk looked over my ID pretty well during the check-in process. Sounds like the potential for a really huge lawsuit, if proper procedures were not followed.

Most likely she helped him check in.

She could be in big trouble. I did hear though that she went to the concert and was warning that people were going to die. They thought she was crazy and ushered her out.

Sounds crazy all right. She should've warned the police if she had an inkling.

me in the middle of the night and told me what was happening.

I turned on local TV and they had a picture of the woman companion.

I'm sure the cops are grilling her for information.

Stay tuned.

I am sure that he was thinking that he would likely die... but there may have been a small thought (at least in the planning stage) that he would do the shooting, drop all the weapons except a pistol, and simply walk out of the casino and use the fact that he wasn't checked in under his own name to buy him some time to get away.

A professional (or more thoughtful amateur) would have done the following:

1. Purchased a fake ID... probably months to years in advance.
2. Established credit under the fake ID.
3. Used a disguise to establish the alternate identity and used that routinely to establish patterns.
4. Brought a glass cutter and suction cup to make the holes in the windows rather than breaking them.
5. Used a silencer on his various long guns.
6. Brought a tent or other enclosure to place against the window to contain the smoke from his weapons.

After killing as many people as possible and creating the desired level of panic... removed the disguise, wipe any possible fingerprints left (that weren't cleaned up before), put everything (disguise, cleanup material, one handgun) into a backpack and exited the casino to a different pre-positioned escape vehicle.

He would still likely be identified eventually... but perhaps he would have had enough time to take a plane out of country and try to disappear (now using a completely different ID, passport, and new disguise).

I can see lawsuits against Mandalay Bay on the horizon.
