General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have zero interest in what Trump has to say. Zero.
And lest you think that's bit reflexive, the night of September 11th I did tune in to what George W. Bush would say.
I didn't like him, I didn't vote for him, but I was interested in what Bush--or any President--would have to say as President after such a large scale terrorist attack.
But no....no interest whatsoever in what Trump has to say here. None at all.
One way or another, immediately or very shortly down the road, he will make it about himself and only himself.

(4,483 posts)But sometimes I tune in just to see how he will meet the challenge of making (whatever the news is) about himself. He never disappoints.

(51,638 posts)In fact when I taught first grade and we celebrated Presidents' Day we would discuss what job presidents do, Washington/Lincoln, etc. but I never once mentioned Bush's name during 8 years. Oh, the fake prez is on...where is the remote...whew, found it. That was close.

(10,252 posts)First he will do the prayers are with the family bit. Then he will praise the cops. Then he will go off script and whine about how the Fake News is so nasty and mean to him. Then he will tell us that he will fix the whatever problem soon, very soon. Maybe next week, maybe in 2 weeks. Then the "believe me" bit. Then he will leave the podium without taking any questions.
What he won't say is that we need sensible gun law reform. Or that we need to increase funding to help the mentally ill. Or that his first priority is an infrastructure bill to get people working, so financial stress on working families will be lessened.

(58,737 posts)That's about the only way he can appear vaguely human.
But he fails the "sincerity" test. You know, the old Groucho Marx saying: Sincerity is the key. Once you can fake that, you've got it made.

(63,221 posts)The only time he is animated is when is he is talking about himself or his sick, fucked-up ideas. Otherwise, he's faking it. And doing an incredibly poor job of it.

(5,815 posts)Or brush my teeth. At least something useful would come from those endeavors.
Of late, I find myself not giving two hoots in a handbag what tRump thinks or says about anything. Not that I ever cared much in the first place. But I did give him a chance to show he could grow into the job. Instead he has just proven the opposite. He has zero skill for the title and he has blown every opportunity to bits.
So no, I simply kept the TV muted when he came on. He could stand there and fart the Star Spangled Banner and I would not tune in. His days as a spokesman for America have come and gone like the gas it would take to fart out that tune.
What a disgrace he is.
