You know, Sanders sharply replied. Speaking from his fancy golf club, playing golf with his billionaire friends, attacking the mayor of San Juan, struggling to bring electricity to the island, food to the island, water to the island, gas to the island, that is just it is unspeakable!
I dont know what world Trump is living in the animated Vermont senator continued. People in Puerto Rico are suffering one of the worst disasters in the history of that island. We have got to do everything we can to help them. We all have got to remember, the people of Puerto Rico are American citizens, entitled to the same help as the people of any other community in America.
Given the presidents history on race, given the fact that he, a few months ago, told us that there were good people on both sides, when neo-Nazis were marching in Charlottesville, yeah, I think we have a right to be suspect that he is treating the people of Puerto Rico in a different way than he has treated then people of Texas or Florida.

Playing from his "fancy", gaudy club that only rich can join giving the same people tax breaks that will break the backs of the middle class, even the top 10% earners and the working class. The tax breaks that will destroy those on Medicare, Medicaid, & those on Disability. This tax plan will put people out on the streets.Telling people that those that make $12,000 a year won't have to pay taxes is ridiculous, they don't have to pay taxes as it is, it is below the poverty level.

(3,537 posts)I actually had that thought; Trump getting in a round while visiting PR, but then I thought, no WAY he could be THAT politically tone deaf.
Maybe he's instructed the recovery teams to prioritize getting the links up and running?

(10,279 posts)I actually believe that he instructed his valet to include his golf clubs in his luggage and to call ahead to make arrangements at the country club. And, oh, make sure that b.... in San Juan is not invited. But, General Kelly quashed 45's instructions.

I still can't believe the damage to the USA caused his use of a stupid 140-character social media service!

(14,494 posts)Presidents are supposed to issue statement via written press releases, formal written presidential statements and press conferences. This guy is not just discussing golf here.
One of the biggest problems if using "social" media is that it creates an air of informality, so "anything goes". You may have noticed that many republicans - when asked about his tweets - simply pass it off as nothing! So, he essentially gets a free pass to say anything below the dignity of the office, and get away with it. Unfortunately, the world is watching. There's nothing trite or off-the-cuff about many of his statements, they are implied policy statements - which are published in the press world-wide.
I'm afraid he's already been condemned as far as he can possibly be condemned. So, he's just using twitter to feed red meat to his base. He could care less what anyone else thinks.

(28,979 posts)They say he is acting presidential. This is how low the bar is now set.
So let the tweets continue to bring his poll numbers down.

(22,494 posts)When the government gives big tax breaks to the wealthy it is like the household loses a lot of income.
What happens to the household is they can't afford to fix the place up, buy the things they want and they go into debt trying to make ends meet.
This is what happens to the country when they don't have the money needed to run it.
