(20,176 posts)is that when you point that out to Republicans...they try to squirm out of under it, realize they can't and twitch. Conservative brains are not wired to reconcile conflicting moral-principles; it makes them malfunction, they'd have an easier time of 1=0.

Saw my first Rmoney bumper sticker. I live in Bakersfield Ca. Obama did lose this part of Ca last June. Some older white dude, drives a Rover.

(16,402 posts)[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]He's not really American! He was actually born in the foreign country where his father was born (because somebody in Mexico said so!), but his mom smuggled him into the U.S. so he could get a retroactive U.S. birth certificate, and I'll bet she also planted birth announcements in the newspapers just because they planned for him to run for president some day!!1!
Now that you mention it, how did George Romney manage to run for president, being born in Mexico and all? Did he buy an exception?

(5,901 posts)I believe the claim was made at the time that a child born of American citizens in a foreign country is American. However, the Romney who first settled in Mexico was banished there by the U.S. Government because they were part of a polygamist group. So I am curious about the citizenship status of those children, although it matters not. John McCain was born in Panama and he was considered a U.S. citizen because he was born on an American naval base.
