Roy Moore pulled out a revolver during his pre-election campaign rally in Fairhope Monday, and the action drew national media headlines.
It also generated a complaint to the local police department.
Fairhope police report that they received a complaint at around 10 p.m. on Tuesday on allegations about the possession of a firearm at a political rally.
Fairhope Police Sgt. Craig Sawyer said Wednesday that the complainant alleged that Moore had violated Alabama law regarding the possession of a firearm by someone participating in a demonstration in a public place, which is a misdemeanor.
"The rally was a ticketed event held on private property, and as such, did not meet the definition of a public place," Sawyer said in an email to AL.com. "The officer who spoke with the complainant determined there was no probable cause to believe that a violation had occurred since the event was not in a public place."

state of the union address. I'd buy a ticket to see that show play out.
