Hard to believe that he seems like an intelligent, capable president compared to the idiot-in-chief we have now.
Of course neither can hold a candle to President Barack Obama.

(6,399 posts)I'd hate that the choices came down to that. But I'd certainly take Dubya over what Trump has done. Trump has decimated so many institutions so quickly in terms of personnel alone that it's going to take a long time to get things back to a functioning government.

(1,325 posts)STFU Donny is an incompetent clown pulling at the loose strings and helping himself and his cronies the best he can. Shrub ruined giant swaths of the world, murdered hundreds of thousands, if not more than a million, and brought suffering and strife and harm to countless peoples from Iraq to the USA. And Cheney and Rumsfeld were old Nixon hands who came out from under slimy rocks to steer the mindless idiot that Bush truly was.

(115,702 posts)But I will admit that I made a big mistake when I said he was the worst possible president. Obviously he wasn't.

For what it's worth, I have a poster of "W" with his "monkey face" and captioned "WORST President EVER" that I'm having to take down - he's been outdone.

(18,672 posts)Although I have to admit, as horrible as he was, W was so much better than Trump. Even when he was Pres, I knew the Republicans hadn't yet scraped the bottom of the barrel and that they'd somehow come up with someone worse. I wish I had been wrong.

and as disastrous I believe he can be for this country,
he has not yet been able to damage this country as Bush did. Iraq,, Katrina, the Tax Cuts, the Financial Collapse.
Still the worst president.
Fortunately, Trump has no real "accomplishments" yet.

(11,519 posts)He's gutted the EPA, OSHA, mine safety, and on and on. He's certainly doing Putin's bidding to hobble the US.

(11,519 posts)Just because 45* actually manages to be worse doesn't mean that I have any kind of nostalgic feelings for shrub. It took President Obama many years to clean up the mess that shrub left us, I think some of the warm and fuzzy feelings for shrub may be the fact that people don't remember what a fucked up mess he left for us.

(62,270 posts)So far he's eating away at our democracy, as a willing puppet of Russia, but he can only do so much with executive orders.
If Gore was allowed the presidency, a lot would be different. The surplus would've continued, the country would've prospered, there would've been less war (9/11 may have still happened, but we would not have invaded Iraq).
As it stands now Trump is effectively a lame duck who can't get legislation passed, who is very divisive, and is likely to actually be impeached.

Maybe it's just a Hail Mary try for redemption, or maybe he does actually put the country;s interests ahead of the party's or his own. Only time will tell.

He ignored the warnings about the 9/11 attacks.
We are in debt because that idiot started wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The idiot gave tax cuts to the rich.
Thousands of Americans are dead because of the wars.
Thousands of Americans are crippled because of the wars.
Thousands of Americans have PTSD because of the wars.
Millions of dead Iraqis because of the war.
Hundreds of thousands of dead Afghanistan people.
Thousands are dead because of his handling of Katrina.
We have Homeland Security and the TSA because of that idiot.

Holding off judgement until everything transpires in the hopefully short (give 'em hell Mueller) Trump tenure, but at this point W is worse. With the caveat of the notion that even W would not be nutty enough to play a game of nuclear chicken with N Korea as if it's a skateboard contest challenge between two kids in the back alley. That's one thing that may tip the scales in favor of Trump being worse. But there's more than enough opportunity for him to lower the bar even further and I have no doubt he will.
