(18,101 posts)same as you? Same as the players taking a knee?
The 1st Amendment doesn't just cover the speech of those we agree with.
And, how is not watching a football game racist?
SHRED
(28,136 posts)Charlie Daniels, like other rightwingers, are pissed that black men are protesting.
It is about race.

(28,136 posts)Why are people pissed off at those taking a knee?
pintobean
(18,101 posts)and what it represents, just as they say. Falsely accusing people of racism minimizes the meaning of the word.
SHRED
(28,136 posts)Can you clarify this please?
pintobean
(18,101 posts)I'm not going to help you.
SHRED
(28,136 posts)You think they were taking a knee in protest of what the flag represents. Ideally the flag represents freedom.
Is that what you think they took a knee over?
pintobean
(18,101 posts)You seem to have comprehension problems.

(26,656 posts)By "disrespecting the flag". i read that as a right wing talking point with no meaning whatsoever.
SHRED
(28,136 posts)That's what I wanted to know.
LiberalFighter
(51,137 posts)If you think it is wrong to take a knee because of the flag then what is the point of what the flag represents? It is suppose to represent freedom and more importantly what makes it possible. The Constitution.

(1,773 posts)....and he found so many ignorant, racist redneck assholes like Charlie Daniels that he realized he no longer has to play his fiddle to steal any souls. All he has to do sit back and keep his cauldron a-bubblin' and wait for them to die and waft down to him like foul-smelling farts.

(2,659 posts)The 1980 Charlie Daniels song "In America" contains the line "Just go and lay your hand on a Pittsburgh Steelers fan."
The following is an excerpt from the Wikipedia page about the song. Note, the URL for the page contains parentheses, therefore, it will not work if I were to type it here on DU.
I think that it is ironic that Daniels' apparently supports 45 whose insulting, profane remark about NFLers taking the knee during the anthem has whipped up turmoil which has caused a rift in the formerly unified ranks of Pittsburgh Steelers fans.

He was one of the originals in the Southern "outlaw" music movements. He did songs like "Long-haired Country Boy" and "Uneasy Rider" that appealed to the rebel in most of us. But it was "rebel" as in rebellion against the establishment.
But, over time, he changed some of the words in the songs and became much more establishment and conservative.
