Donald Trump on Monday met with conservative leaders for a dinner in the Blue Room at the White House, during which he re-upped his criticism of Jeff Sessions over the attorney generals decision to recuse himself from the Department of Justices investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

New: WH photo of Trump's dinner with conservative outside groups tonight captures Trump lecturing the entire table.
According to the Wall Street Journals Rebecca Ballhaus, attendees at the dinner could feel Trumps speech dripping with venom as he derided AG Sessions, yet again, for removing himself from the departments probe.

But it has long been known that the group included some key individuals whose goals are less benevolent. One of its five founders, Tim LaHaye, is the co-author of the Left Behind series of apocalyptic Christian novels and a man who has described gay people as vile, said the Illuminati are conspiring to establish a new world order, attacked Catholicism, and once worked for the wildly conspiracist John Birch Society. An important member whose name was revealed early on was John Rousas Rushdoony, who is listed in the 2014 directorys In Memoriam section and advocated for a society ruled by Old Testament law requiring, among other things, the stoning of adulteresses, idolaters and incorrigible children.

There's no religious whackjob in this country that Trump doesn't try to cultivate.

As PearliePoo and OctoberLib say, this rage months after the recusal reveals just how worried, and enraged, he is. Obviously, he's had the shocking epiphany that his money won't just make this one go away.
But as for Rump wooing the religious right, his need for their support was just an open door for them to come in en mass and use his power for their purposes. If they were to succeed in their great mission, Rump and the Kochs would be among the very first to meet their ends against a wall. The Kochs know that, I'm sure.
