North Dakota is a purple blue state when it comes to the US Senate.

Democrats elected to the US Senate from ND.
Heitkamp-D 2012 and most likely in 2018
Conrad-D 1986,1992,1994,2000,and 2006
Dorgan-D 1992,1998,and 2004
Burdick-D 1960,1964,1970,1976,1982,and 1988
Burdick,Conrad, and Dorgan have won re-election by double digit/landslide margins.
With Trump in the White House, Heitkamp-D is favored to win re-election in 2018. Whether it is by a double digit margin is a big question mark.
