Well here we are at day 7 with no power. Crews are working their butts off trying to get everyone back their electric. Finally getting enough signal to go online from my phone. Reading the posts at DU is welcome relief from the constant Irma recovery news on the local channels. My home is fine except for a few downed trees and my kids backyard playset got trashed. Anyone else on DU from here say hello. I'm sure that I'm not the only Liberal in town. Now back to the chainsaw.

(1,301 posts)Duke assessment team showed up at my house this morning. They agree with what I have been telling them. The wires pulled out of their pole. Time frame: "We have no idea. Duke has been in a complete state of confusion since Friday night." That is what their own people told me. getting me up and going is a very small task. Eight trucks were in my neighborhood on Wednesday. I'm the only one down. When I called this morning they said they had no record of my power being out.
Glad you are ok.

(192 posts)Serves 37 homes. Maybe Thursday per FPL. Normally yard waste has to be bundled in 5 foot lengths. Due to storm they will pick up any size you can get to the curb. I have been out cutting and hauling in 93 degree heat. We still have 70000 out in Fort Myers. AC,lights ,cable, WIFI! never take them for granted. If my gym has power I get a shower.

(1,301 posts)Sorry about the snapped pole. That really stinks.
They are going to be doing three debris sweeps through our area over the next two weeks. If it's within ten feet of the curb they will pick it up no matter the size. People all over my area are taking down trees they have wanted down for a long time but either needed a permit or the cost to haul was too great. No permit necessary if they claim it was damaged by the hurricane and zero dump fee.
