14. tRump's problem is that if he did have a moment of insight---

If he cracked the door open long enough to get a glimpse at the loathing so many of us feel for him---he would figure out a way to block it all out in a day or two. He'd have a rally, watch the cheers and conclude that the polls are wrong, rigged or fake. The evidence is there but if you refuse to see it or you reframe it to suit yourself, the insight won't last long. Besides, I am not sure he really has the capacity to really get it, the why of our loathing. He has such a distorted view of himself and his history that if he really understood why he is despised so much, it might destroy him. He HAS to make it all fit his own narrative to be able to get up every day and carry on like all is well---even in the face of overwhelming evidence that it is not.
