We live in a nation of people who don't know how to think.

They listen to hate radio and FOX news.

They don't read.

They don't value education.

They don't know what "critical thinking" is.

They hate "libruls".

They believe what they see in television ads.

They don't know how to use the internet to separate truth from propaganda.

They fall for the lies of con men.

They fawn over religious figures who lie to them.

They don't know the history of our country.

They don't know what's in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights.

They don't understand why "America First" isn't good for anyone.

They don't know how to think, and they are blissfully unaware of it.

No wonder Trump is president.

"They" think the same of you, interestingly, with a couple exceptions due to wording. WhiskeyGrinder Sep 2017 #1
So you think there's an equivalence between the left and the right? milestogo Sep 2017 #4

The equivalence is that they're both human, and humans like to "other" those who aren't like them.

and when a politician is selling anger they are buying - adrenaline is their drug.
The anger is really the outgrowth of fear. When a politician says they will be OK because it is others who will have theirs taken away because they are lesser people they are signing up. No more fear.
In other words - the R's have figured out how to snare people through the emotions of fear and anger.
This base becomes the designer for the future - ignorance.

Been watching this slow moving trainwreck my entire adult life - late 80s to now.

AND, it has gotten worse over time.

I had heartburn in the 90s (when the stupid in this country was only DEFCON 4) over the bullshit they did with Clinton, how the Rs were so hateful of a good POTUS and how the media passively allowed them to lie, fabricate things, muddle things.

I fumed in the 2000s when the used 9-11 for political advantage for 7 years, and we were all terrorist loving scumbags if we didn't go along with whatever disaster they were pushing.

8 years of their living in a complete alternative universe where a really cool, smart and capable POTUS was a "divisive" incompetent, power hungry dictator (The stupid in this country reaching DEFCON 3). By this time the media had give up the pretense of not out and out siding with their bullshit.

When 45 came down the escalator, I told people he was not joke that he embodied what the republican party had become and that if he got nomination this country was absolutely stupid enough to make him POTUS.

The stupid in this country is now DEFCON 2.

some 10+ years my senior who lost power during Irma here in Tampa. They pulled the cord on the garage door to unlock the mechanism from the drive. They kept pulling on the cord expecting the door to open. I bent down and lifted the door. They had NO idea how a garage door worked. Never tried to lift it.

I had to hold back from laughing and they were grateful
