Hillary Clinton Says She Will Never Run for Office Again

Hillary Clinton Says She Will Never Run for Office Again

http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2017/09/10/hillary_clinton_says_she_will_never_run_for_office_again.html

Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton made it clear she is not going to run for public office again, although she vowed to continue trying to make a difference on the issues she cares about. “As an active politician it’s over. I am done with being a candidate,” Clinton said in an interview with CBS that was broadcast on Sunday morning, two days before the release of her memoir about the 2016 campaign. “But I am not done with politics, because I literally believe that our country’s future is at stake.”

The interview to promote her memoir What Happened made it clear Clinton is still not over her shocking electoral defeat in November. “I am good,” Clinton said. “But that doesn’t mean I am complacent or resolved about what happened. It still is very painful. It hurts a lot.”

The former candidate said she was “gobsmacked” by her loss to Trump. “I went, into a frenzy of closet cleaning, and long walks in the woods, playing with my dogs, and, as I write—yoga, alternate nostril breathing, which I highly recommend, tryin’ to calm myself down. And—you know, my share of chardonnay. It was a very hard transition. I really struggled,” she said. “I couldn’t feel; I couldn’t think. I was just gobsmacked, wiped out.”

Clinton also used the interview to harshly criticize President Trump. “We have a reality show that leads to the election of a president,” Clinton said. “He ends up in the Oval Office. He says, ‘Boy, it’s so much harder than I thought it would be. This is really tough. I had no idea.’ Well, yeah, because it’s not a show. It’s real. It’s reality, for sure.”

Sadly. The only option is to look forward to 2020 and get our efforts into overdrive! Focusing on conspiracy theories about the election being stolen (remember when the crazy GOP tried doing this PRIOR to orange's win?) will not win us the 2020 race.

This isn't a time to take a page out of the GOP playbook. It is a time to follow the example of our Democratic leaders and focus on getting our wonderful message out to as many people as we can. We need to get every Dem voter out to the polls, one way or the other.

Mon Sep 11, 2017, 06:02 PM
Sep 2017

I know this, because I work for one of those agencies.

ODNI actively operates under the belief that various flavors of influence orchestrated by foreign actors did not change the result of the election. No one disputes that attempts were made, however. This may be shocking to the average individual, but it actually extremely common in intelligence circles.

Specifically, NSA is the agency tasked with defending US networks/infosystems and denying or degrading our adversaries access to wide-area networks. Such systems are routinely penetrated by foreign intelligence services and other actors, and do not constitute world-shattering events.

To be clear, it isn't a "GOP" mantra. And I'm almost shocked that I was labeled a "troll." Far from it, in fact. The election wasn't stolen, despite many adversaries attempting to project their sphere of influence into our political circles. When I see ODNI claim otherwise, my opinion will instantly change. Until that time, however, it is a giant distraction preventing us from getting our message out there!

As someone who frequently peruses right wing forums (opposition research, much?), I can say that many are elated over this Russia obsession. It isn't going to help us win in 2020. The DNC spent a lot of time and money making sure our message adequately explained our party to John Q. Public voter, and why he/she should give us the Presidency and statehouses.

There is absolutely no way that anyone can know that all the Russian shit that was thrown at this election did not change the result.

It's not something that should be ignored because your "opposition research much?" says that the Right has an opinion about it. Who gives a shit what they think?

It's not something that responsible voters dismiss with statements like: "this may be shocking to the average individual (condescend much?) but it (sic) actually extremely common in intelligence circles."

It's something for which responsible people will demand an investigation, and demand that we take all steps available so it doesn't happen again.

Unless one is a GOP troll, in which case that would be the last thing that one would want. If one were a GOP troll, one would try to insist that we just leave it alone and stop talking about it.

Russia tampered with our election, and their politicians are crowing about it on live TV. It happened.

And to be clear, yes it IS a GOP mantra.

There is absolutely no evidence otherwise, and operating under such an assumption will do nothing but stymie our message that desperately needs to be heard by the voters.

My vehicle was full on election day, and I've been a Democratic voter for 30 years. No one has the right to question my dedication to the Democratic party. I do not appreciate terms such as "troll," terms you use in a vain attempt to elevate your position above the mere-assumption it is.

Ignoring the broken, hacked and otherwise corrupt ways that votes were suppressed is a sure fire way to keep on losing.

This election was indeed stolen. Sadly, our government has no way to remedy that, but closing our eyes to the truth and failing to examine what went on is a sure fire way to lose 2018 and 2020.

Let's take a page out of what the rest of the world is doing to handle the crap that attacked us, and find out what happened and do what it takes to FIX it.

Reagan, (hate to say it but to far too many) Trump, and even Jimmy Carter had an affable folksiness to him. Perhaps "charisma/persona" is far more important than the credit we as a party give it. Others continue using his name ("People for Bernie Sanders" ) to perpetuate the lie that Rs and Ds are the same.

Bottom line is that leaving open the possibility he will run again perpetuates the infighting and divisions in the party. It prevents us from moving forward. The right thing to do would be to take himself out of contention, as Hillary has done.

98. Here is the poll that many are using to assess the "popularity" of politicians:
Mon Sep 11, 2017, 07:42 PM
Sep 2017

Note, it does not include all politicians "in the country", nor is the word "popular" in the question. It only includes 12 "politicians", one of whom is NOT a "politician" (Steve Bannon), and two of whom have been "politicians" for only seven months (trump and Tillerson)

Of the 100 United States Senators, only four are included, of the 438 Representatives only two are included. It does not include any Governors or any holders of state-wide office.

Finally, note too that the results are "weighted", in fact the "weighted base" has been INCREASED from the total respondents! Not a very objective poll in any sense of the word.

"Now we will show you some names. Please indicate if you have a favorable or unfavorable view of that person - or if you've never heard of them."

Summary Of Very Favorable/Favorable
Base: All Respondents
Unweighted Base 2263 Weighted Base 2271
Bernie Sanders 1220 54%
Mike Pence 991 44%
Hillary Clinton 949 42%
Donald Trump 926 41%

I keep saying this in threads and no one will talk about the sexism and racism that has happened. We can't get republicans to address their issues, but we need to make sure this never happens again and nip this shit in the bud. I'm so sad that she will never run again, but damn, I can wait for her to help run and shape this party for the future. She seems to be so ahead of her time and we would be fools not to listen to her...that's my moving forward.

Look at his response on the other thread about this. Apparently one wasn't enough. But a different set of rules applies to his guy, as you can see above.

She ran, she didn't win. She's almost 70.

Pretty much everyone else who gets pushed here as a 2020 candidate is that old.

It is more than past time for a younger generation go step forward and start taking over the reins of the Democratic party. Republicans have been getting younger people out there for a good twenty years at this point. When are Democrats going to understand they need to do the same thing?

That "everyone's too old and we don't have good candidates" bullshit is really ridiculous.

Which is false.

putting forth of Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden. The four you mentioned are almost never brought up.

There are a few others who occasional get referenced, but there's far too much same old same old promoted here.

This is also an issue with certain Democratic Senators and Representatives who are well over 70 and who apparently plan to die in office.

But this is great in that she can help shape our future. She has always been light years ahead of everyone else...I think her voice and vision will help us move into a brighter future and address our own sexist and racist issues that came to the front for the last 2 1/2 years...we all new they were there, but I know I've been surprised at how bad it is. She will be an awesome leader.

Not quite sure why you find it so earth shattering that it merits another thread, when she said this months ago. Many of us pointed out that fact, only to have it denied by those who can't seem to quit Hillary Clinton.

Are we paying by the k and r now? Should I check in with you if I want to k and r another thread on the same subject?

There's one in GD I kinda had my eye on. Wondering if you would vet it for me.

I can't imagine why she would ever want to put herself through that ever again.

I think you've done enough Hillary. You deserve your rest and relaxation.

She's worked hard her whole life: as a wife and mother, in private industry, in public service. She's got a shit ton of money and millions that adore her. I hope she has a great time doing whatever else comes next -- God knows she's already accomplished more than most of us ever will.

I secretly hope she finishes out like my grandfather did: day drinking beer in the backyard of a house in a dense, major metropolitan area, and illegally shooting at crows and pigeons with a .22 pistol in an incredibly dangerous and irresponsible manner. Or maybe that's just MY idea of a great retirement...
