With all of this tired Bernie/Hillary infighting, I think it's high time we have more threads focused on 2018. Is there a 2018 house candidate you have been impressed with thus far? Care to give insight on the district they are running in? Who is the incumbent?
One candidate who has caught my eye is Jared Golden. He is running for ME-02 in my state which is the more rural northern district. ME-02 voted for Obama twice but went to Trump in 2016. For years the district was represented by Democrat Mike Michaud but it has been represented by snake oil salesman scumbag Bruce Poliquin since 2014. Poliquin voted for ACA repeal and has since run away from his constituents, most notably at a senior living facility, and from reporters when they have questioned him about it. In leaked audio, he said he runs away from press because he fears losing his seat.
Jared Golden would be a strong challenger. He was born and raised in a small dairy farm town in the district. He served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He worked for Senator Susan Collins on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee where he led efforts to reauthorize the FIRE/SAFER Grants in 2012. He is now the Assistant Majority Leader in the Maine House representing the city of Lewiston. He's 35 years old and would be a young, fresh face.
