There's a wide spread but the consensus for

(1,385 posts)But I live on an island just south of Charleston and the map suggests landfall in the Hilton Head, Beaufort area.
The Savannah river is the border between, Georgia & South Carolina.

(1,385 posts)Hurricanes like this, anywhere on the south eastern coast is a dangerous place to be. Hilton Head, Beaufort and Edisto were hit hard by Matthew, some haven't rebuilt yet.

(1,385 posts)Is the key word, we're getting out of dodge, while the getting is good. Charleston evacuated in a smooth manner for Matthew, many stayed and many went to the midlands, Columbia area, which suffered horrific flooding.
The expectation that forecasters with the technology they have in 2017 can get it spot on, they will always qualify their forecasts with this is as good as we can do, but when it's all said and done, it's an educated guess, it's a very strong and nasty hurricane.

hard to imagine their world very likely could be turned upside down soon.
