Since the deadly Aug. 12 rally in Virginia sparked by white supremacists angry over plans to remove a statute of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, the national park 300 miles northeast of Las Vegas has received a handful of inquiries about the oddly named Jeff Davis Peak.

Acting Great Basin Superintendent Scott Burch said at least one of the people who contacted the park wanted to know what it would take to remove Davis’ name from Nevada’s third-tallest summit.

“The Park Service can’t change names, but the U.S.G.S. can,” Burch explained ...
