He is acting like he cares. Taking pictures with families and kids. I am going to throw up. The news women on MSNBC was saying this is a different president. Dumb.

(6,798 posts)is as close to dumb as Fox and Friends. I'm amazed she is still at MSNBC. Thankfully, she is only on during weekends. If you are feeling mind-numbed then you are most likely watching her.

(905 posts)sigh. It seems that good, honest public servants can never get a break. They government and government workers until they need them. And most of those are the ones who voted for Trump and who will see his fawning visit as the mark of a President much better than Obama who was golfing during Katrina.

(115,706 posts)You know damn well he was thoroughly coached for this performance - and that's what it was, a performance:
AIDE: Mr. President, when you go back to Houston it would be a good idea to, you know, visit some shelters and talk to some of the people who are staying there.
TRUMP: Do I have to touch them? They might have bugs or something.
AIDE: You should definitely touch them while you talk to them and tell them how bad you feel for them and how you'll do everything possible to help them.
TRUMP: But no hugging.
AIDE: Then at least a handshake or a pat on the shoulder. We'll have plenty of Wet-Wipes for you to use afterwards. If you just stand there you'll look like you don't care.
TRUMP: They'll all be Americans, though, right?
AIDE: Americans? Of course. Houston is part of America.
TRUMP: I mean, real Americans. The people who voted for me. On TV it looks like a lot of them aren't Americans, if you know what I mean.
AIDE: There's no way to know how people voted, so... Anyhow, the important thing is that this will be all over the news and people will see you being presidential.
TRUMP: Oh. Well, then; bring a lot of Wet-Wipes. And we should bring a bunch of those caps like I wore last time. People are going to want them as souvenirs of me.
AIDE: A lot of the people have lost everything, so they might really appreciate a free cap.
TRUMP: Free? Those caps are $40.
AIDE: The people in the shelters probably won't have $40 to spare; they probably even lost their credit cards.
TRUMP: I guess they'll just have to order the caps on line later, then. Gotta run. Don't forget the Wet-Wipes.
