President Trump has made the economy so much better that it has added 186,000 fewer jobs in his first seven months than it did in President Barack Obamas last seven months.
Indeed, the economy added only a disappointing 156,000 jobs in August and a disappointing 41,000 fewer jobs than we thought it had in June and July, and saw the share of 25- to 54 year-olds who should be in the prime of their working years who are in fact doing so fall a heres that word again disappointing 0.3 percentage points, erasing almost all of its progress since the start of the year. Oh, and wages arent going up any faster; pay is growing the same 2.5 percent a year it was when Trump took office ...

(17,984 posts)1) Either Obama set the bar too high on purpose to make tRump look bad
2) All the good that Obama did at the end of his second term was not enough to keep the economy afloat during tRump's first year.
Either way, it's Obama's fault, and we should never forget that.

(37,573 posts)I have not thought to look at job numbers.
Although, I do not consider it to necessarily be a bad thing to leave the workforce. I hope to do it myself in another year and a half. Of course, I am over 55 too.

(6,395 posts)...on average every 11 years. Severity, that depends. Repeal of Glass-Steagall actually went through a couple of cycles before the chickens came home to roost.
I suspect we are due for a mild one... Because Obama didn't do anything stupid. But, something from Bush's tenure could also rear it's ugly head.
This is what worries me about dump and his tax plans... We could not feel the full effects until 20 years from now... and if a Dem is in office , he/she gets the blame

(11,843 posts)I know we aren't there yet, but this graph, with only 7 months, is subject to seasonal differences.
Better would be 2016 vs 2017, to rule out seasonal changes. Or maybe the first 7 months of every year of Obama's Presidency, vs, Hair Twittler.
