Harvey was a weak TS thru Barbados and a few Windward islands and threatened the ABC islands for a bit before weakening way south of Jamaica and going across the Honduras/Belize area and into the GOM where it regained TS strength and then blew up. Irma may or may not affect the Leeward islands - very different tracks.

The Hurricane Gods have been sadly neglected in recent years. Their worship is down tremendously, while the worship of Toyota, Lexus, Elon Musk, and Orange Hair is off the charts.

So they've decided to get even. Sources tell me that the many disparate Hurricane Gods (keep in mind that there are separate ones for wind strength, lifespan of the storm, as well as different local regional HGs in the Caribbean, the South Atlantic, Gulf Coast (five different regions there) and so on) have gotten together and are co-ordinating their efforts to make sure that we have truly memorable Hurricanes this year. Oh, and the double-strike Hurricane God (who is affectionately known as LeRoy) has recently come out of hibernation to work his magic with Harvey. I've been told that he's thoroughly awake and may try to arrange the same at least once more this season.

The ultimate goal of the Hurricane Gods is to be worshipped, or at least feared a whole lot more. It looks as if they might be successful for now.

I hope that helps.

To have the gods direct it to Mar-A-Lago and hover there until it is wiped clean?

They don't work that way, despite the long-held belief that they do.

The storm track gods need to unite to send Irma that way. But they are, as you can tell from the above posted potential tracks, notoriously fickle. It would also help if the storm concentration gods could be persuaded to make it very small, and very intense, and go straight over Mar-A-Lago. We'd want the storm speed gods to slow the storm down so that there would be plenty of time for evacuation, of course. It's possible the tornado spawning gods could be persuaded to direct a tornado precisely at that property. Alas, I have no pull with any of them. I can only report what I know.

not that interested in virgins. A good margarita or an exceptionally dry martini are better. Especially if you (or I) consume them. Too bad you're so far from me, or I'd arrange a discussion over a good margarita or martini.

As a side note, I did get to the path of totality in Nebraska for the recent eclipse. I was able to find a t-shirt that reads: I saw the solar eclipse and I didn't spill my margarita once.
