Pence is the Trojan Horses homophobic ass ready to establish a Biblical nation.

(42,641 posts)Pence is definitely the worse of the two. He presents as normal, in contrast to the lunatic currently occupying the White House.

(10,602 posts)The gambit was that Trump would be gone eventually. And Pence could run for president in the future once the GOP really had all the elections fixed. The election commission should be a good clue what the GOP and churches are up to. The radical Christians are having a wet dream about taking over and controlling the country right now.

(42,641 posts)Demographics are not in their favor. So they must limit the franchise to those more likely to agree with the GOP message.

(10,602 posts)We know damned well that Trump did not win those last states the way he did. Statistically is was impossible to win by those few votes in EVERY swing state. And we know other states were fishy as well.

(42,641 posts)But a very high turnout overcame that in 2008, followed by a pathetic turnout in 2010. We cannot blame the GOP for 2010.

(1,773 posts)...Nazi so casually. When everyone we dislike or disagrees with suddenly becomes a card-carrying member of the Nazi Party in our minds, it kinda diminishes the horrific revulsion actual Nazis are suppose to have on us. My grandmother is an old school, religions conservative. Technically, by the definition of some here, she's a Nazi...this despite the fact that she was a WAC during WW2 and did her utmost to oppose the actual Nazis.
If words like "idiot", "cretin" and "half-witted, knuckle-dragging, drool-dripping imbecile" no longer suffice in describing people like Pence, maybe we should just invent a new word to describe such people instead of co-opting an old one that could potentially leave us with a fatal blind spot to actual genocidal lunacy.

(1,773 posts)I loathe Mike Pence, but nothing in that article states he's a Nazi Party member.

(36,827 posts)I'm more of the mindset that if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, then it's a duck.
I don't believe Pence is a Holocaust denier. I don't believe he publicly snaps his heels together with his palm extended and yells Heil Trump. I don't believe he decorates his office with swastikas.
I do believe he is heavily invested in the supremacy of white Christian males because of the policies he advocates and those in which he is sympathetic. So whether he is overtly a Nazi is really academic. The only thing that prevents him from the action stage of more serious oppression is the circumstances he finds himself in and people who are willing to stand up and call a hater a hater.

(1,773 posts)It should be clear to the world what kind of person Pence is. There's no need for hyperbole. When you label him, or anyone else who really isn't, a Nazi when they are not, you make it easier for his defenders to dismiss all criticism of him as over-the-top, hyperbolic nonsense. Please don't let him off the hook that easily.
In addition, when everyone we dislike gets labeled a "Nazi" it makes it so much easier for real Nazis to hide in plain sight. They can always defend themselves by saying "Hey, I'm no Nazi. Liberals call everyone they hate Nazis".
That word should never lose its literal meaning, or the impact it has. Too many people died in WW2 fighting the Nazis to make cheapening that word for rhetorical purposes okay.
What's wrong with the term "White supremacist", or in the case of Pence, "Christian Supremacist". I think that's much closer to what he really is.

(36,827 posts)Which doesn't mean he doesn't deserve the label.
Your concern is duly noted.

(1,773 posts)What's wrong with the other terms I suggested? If everyone we dislike is suddenly labeled a Nazi, what are we supposed to call real Nazis? Can you at least answer that?

(36,827 posts)You seem to think anyone who doesn't dress up in a Gestapo uniform doesn't deserve the title. You do get that most of them aren't going to be completely overt with it, yes?

(36,827 posts)...in keeping with Jewish idolatry laws. The concept of the trinity and Christ's divinity was established centuries after his death. You won't find it anywhere in the bible. Not even all Christians believe in the divinity of Christ, so that's not even a defining factor of Christians anyway. The point Nietzsche was making was Christianity is a completely manufactured religion that was and still is completely flexible to the agenda of those who promote it. It bears no resemblance to the original intent.

(38,317 posts)Where the hell was he hiding out in the 'seventies?
I was running around wild and free and body surfing in the Pacific Ocean naked at times.
I can't help but think Pence must have locked himself away only to venture out on weekends with lurid confessions.
