The media is doing a grave disservice to the nation by covering this as an imminent "crisis". Its NOT...and it won't be unless or until the GOP actually views it as something they must fight or face existential distress.

Fox News and the RWNJ online troll communities have convinced at least 80-85% of Republicans that the whole thing is a witch hunt, an attempt to undo the election results and not really a crime or major scandal. Their bubble is impervious to facts and will not be popped unless it is punctured from inside. With 80--85% of the 'base' remaining totally unmoved by mounting evidence of scandal, there is simply no force that can bring this to a head.

I see the stories and the gaffes and the outright ugliness of this POTUS and his gang of thieves on the grift and ideologues on their mission, but I remain troubled by the fact that it gains no traction outside of liberal circles, who are and always will be convinced that Trump is a usurper and unfit to be Dog Catcher, let alone POTUS.

At this point, the excuse "well, even if there WAS collusion, its not technically ILLEGAL" has been allowed to actually been seen as legitimate. Imagine the outrage and rending of garments that would have ensued had President Obama offered up any such statements....for fuck's sake, we had YEARS of investigations and grandstanding over Benghazi and e-mails!

The truth of the matter is this....the media IS in the tank, but not intentionally and NOT on the side of liberal causes or ideology as the right likes to claim. They are in the tank for ratings - eyeballs, clicks, retweets, attention and Trump is simply the equivalent of heroin to them. The sweet, sweet high of that initial escalator ride and the ratings boosts they got by constantly televising a live-action train wreck without providing the proper context consistently has become an addiction every bit as powerful as a heroin addict's need to fix or suffer unbelievable withdrawal pains.

We are not watching a presidency in distress, we are watching a system of governance in distress and a president who gives zero fucks about the long term damage his cynical and destructive rein is bringing to us all.

My prediction right now? Trump NEVER gets impeached nor does he get indicted. Those around him, including his idiot son in law and moron boys, WILL be pardoned for ANYTHING they have done to date or will do and worst of all? Trump will be re-elected in 2020 unless the Democratic Party begins figuring out how to make these horror stories of Trump and his lack of morals actually into anvils instead of helium balloons. The weight of the things he does should have sunk him forever DECADES ago...the permissiveness of the press in giving him a pass on them and treating him as in any well 'normal' is killing this nation.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you and cannot fathom why no one can stand up to Hurricane Twittler.
Why didn't good Germans stand up to Hitler? Bitte Schon.

his team of outstanding lawyers keep working, I couldn't possibly care less about how the press handles it. The ones that covered it (Rachel) will get a Pulitzer and the ones that mocked it or ignored it will look like imbeciles. It doesn't change a thing.
