Trojan, part2?

Last edited Wed Aug 30, 2017, 08:09 PM - Edit history (1)

Here we go again, second time today.

First time: https://www.democraticunderground.com/10029533611

Second time:

Tried the same steps that cleared everything the first time; not working this time.

Like with the first event, I can still open everything in a new window. But I really don't like having that thing lingering in my computer.

Any ideas??

Posted in GD for visibility in case others are being similarly afflicted.

.

UPDATE: Did a reboot, thing remained. Did repeated attempts with control-alt-delete and task manager to shut down browser -- it worked on the 6th attempt. This is getting tedious, ain't it?!
Thanks again, folks!

If your page is frozen force your computer to shut off. Wait a minute and reboot. chowder66 Aug 2017 #4
Try downloading Avast, it has a boot time scan that might be a good thing to run too. Ninsianna Aug 2017 #16

type "windows defender" and then click on it. Update and then run it if you can, if not just run it for a full scan, it will take a while, then update it after and run again.

I assume you are using explorer for your browser? Firefox works pretty well and you can get adblock plus to stop a lot of the pop ups that you dont want, sometimes you have to unblock it for sites you want though. Its easy to use and that plus windows defender have worked well for me for years now to stop any viruses. It looks like you can use adblock plus for windows edge also if that is what you are using.

Then download the Anti-Virus app and run it. You can set a schedule to run it after hours every day or weekly or whenever.
