Voters in the Pittsburgh, Pa. area have descried frustration with President Trump and his ability to lead the country, according to a new focus group conducted by Emory University and reported by NBC News.
The words used to describe Trump include dishonest, narcissistic, off the scale, an abject disappointment, contemptible, and unbelievable. Out of the 12 participants, five cast a vote for Trump in last years November election. Each participant who backed Trump reportedly spoke of worries about the presidents inability to break the deadlock in Washington, D.C.
What most disappoints me is hes such an incredibly flawed individual who has articulated so many of the values that I hold dear, Tony Sciullo said, according to NBC. Sciullo voted for Trump and is the participant who described him as an abject disappointment.
Peter Hart, a Democratic pollster who conducted the focus group on Tuesday for Emory University, said Trump is supposed to be the voice of hope.
What everybody said, either directly or indirectly, was that his presidency is about him and its not about us, Hart said.

(4,734 posts)During the campaign. How else could any of this be a surprise now?
When he told everyone he could be more Presidential than anyone ever, did they actually believe that?

(16,869 posts)What values are those I wonder? It's seems like many of these people projected what they wanted rather than hearing what the actual message was. That or they're just willing to overlook or participate in his overt bigotry!

(15,805 posts)They heard a few tidbits that they wanted to believe, and chose to ignore everything else that Trump has said or done. Its like they would buy a car because you really like the fuzzy dice hanging off the mirror, but ignoring the milage, safety and performance issues that make it a loser.
They made a bad decision, but my question is; How did remorseful Trump voters fail to see the same glaringly obvious negative things that the rest of us saw?

(63,219 posts)but the outlying counties in western PA (such as mine) still like and trust the idiot racist fuckhead that they elected.
Regardless, it's still true that if anyone is taken aback by Trump's actions since taking office, then they simply refused to accept the obvious when they voted for him. Nothing he's done is at all surprising based on everything that we already knew about his "character," yet these people still voted for him.
