Please understand that dictators WANT YOU to NOT believe their lies.

When Kim Jong Un tells how he invented a miracle drug for all sorts of deadly illnesses.

When Kim Jong Il played a golf-course and every hole was a hole-in-one.
When he read 2000 books.

When Donald Trumps boasts that he had one of the biggest Electoral College-victories of all time, when he actually won by one of the slimmest margins ever.
When he tells during a live-broadcast on CNN how CNN has stopped the live-broadcast.

Dictators do not expect you to believe their lies.
They expect you to see through them.
They WANT you to see through them.

Here's a real-life example: The German Democratic Republic (DDR) had a domestic intelligence service whose purpose was terrorizing their own citizens into submission and oppressing any opposition to the socialist regime. That intelligence service was called MfS, but had colloquially the nickname "Stasi".

Here are some of the costumes the Stasi used to blend in in everyday-life in the DDR.

I know. You're saying that the costumes are so bad that anyone would recognize these people as secret agents trying to blend in.

THAT WAS THEIR PURPOSE.

You were supposed to see them. You were supposed to see the secret agents who had every right to arrest you and drag you straight to prison on a whim.

But you had to pretend to not see them. The government forced you to pretend that you don't see them, even though you clearly did.

That was their power-play.

When Kim Jong Un lies, when Donald Trump lies, they don't expect you to believe that.
The lie is really a power-play.

When Kim Jong Un lies, when Donald Trump lies, what they are really saying is:
"I AM SO POWERFUL, I CAN TELL THE MOST RIDICULOUS LIES WITH IMPUNITY."
