Grassley had to get the fake prez's attention to notice this as a possible problem by TWEETING him. I can't believe our country has come to this in 7 months (seems like 70 years).

(3,789 posts)I've been on FB and some of these people are ridiculous and yes they are Texans. They are saying how the media is overreacting, nothing is going to happen in Houston and there was one who claimed that he went through Alicia and that it was barely a Cat 1 and that revisionist history changed it to a Cat 3. Yes I'm 100% sure they are Trumpies as well.

(1,990 posts)It is kind of a way of life here. If it builds to a cat 4 or 5, I will definitely regret my decision. We don't live right on the coast. We are about 45 miles inland. I built the house like a tank in 1999 to weather hurricanes. My stud spacing and lag bolts are designed for hurricane areas. I have hurricane ties on every rafter. It survived Cat 2 Claudette eye-wall in 2004 (110 mph). I am more concerned about my new ground mount 15.6 kW solar array. We will see how good my engineering skills are. Thanks for the concern. I will be back in 5 or 6 days (maybe) to describe how everything turned out. I have tons of animals to tend to. We have a creek on our ranch and I need to make sure the cattle are on the correct side of it before the storm hits.

(31,121 posts)and isnt the problem in the big picture anymore than a rabid dog is to blame for biting you, sort of. (Dont get me wrong, I hate him with a passion and the heat of ten suns)
The problem are the 50 million Americans, who vote, who support him STILL.
For them I have nothing but hate.
Thanks...

(8,291 posts)it's hard to hate someone I've never met but he's on my shit list for sure.
If something happens and I am invited to the WH to meet him, I believe I would go only to spit on his shoes.
really, that's what I'd do. I'd like to see DC again otherwise. LOL.

(31,907 posts)Unfortunately - the folks down there saying this are allowing their blind loyalty to put their lives in danger.
I've lived in NJ for just about 12 years after living in Western NY for about 30 years.
Prior to living here I engaged in business here - the land of the rainy Noreaster. The Monday of Sandy I went to work. Me about five other people at our Global Headquarters. I left about 9 AM even though they had downgraded the storm. I expected a strong Noreaster. I didn't expect transformers to blow up and massive oak trees out of their roots in Central NJ - ie inland.
Two falls ago I was home alone - 15 miles more down the road towards PA and with pleurisy - was pulling shit inside the garage and battening down the hatches for a tropical storm that fizzled.
Lessons learned - over prepare. I wish the people snorting at this in the path of the storm the absolute best.

(5,328 posts)And that's just one of the many extremely annoying aspects of the bloated weather.com website.
Whenever they make an "improvement," it's worse than before. Have you checked the radar in motion? It takes way too long to load (more than 2 minutes). It used to be that 20 seconds was slow.
When you click on one of their interesting looking stories, it's always a disappointment.
Wednesday, they predicted a 20% chance of rain but the thunderstorm covered most of the city all afternoon and into the evening. Their predictions are terrible!
But their predictions are spot on for this weekend. If I were in TX, I wouldn't stop until I got to El Paso. Then I would continue on to New Mexico for the scenery.

(1,990 posts)This is going to be a long drawn out shit storm. We live in the country on a ridge so I am not concerned about flooding. I do think we will be isolated for at least four days. We have a back up generator with lots of fuel. We might even experience the eye-wall twice if it backs up back to the gulf. We are a bunch of old rare crusty liberal rednecks. We will survive. FUCK TRUMP! I don't want him down here.

(96 posts)saying "It's incredibly dangerous to be outside doing exactly what I am doing. Everyone should evacuate (except us)"
Ideally, they would be inside showing pictures of the carnage. But no, got to get the personal danger element and make the media look like hypocrites at the same time.
I hadn't been paying attention to the weather coverage, are they doing it this time too?
