Several days after being attacked while guarding the makeshift memorial to Boris Nemtsov at the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge, Ivan Skripnichenko has died, a fellow activist told the website Mediazona.

On the evening of August 15, Skripnichenko was reportedly guarding the memorial, which is regularly dismantled by city cleanup crews and pro-Kremlin thugs, when an unidentified man approached him and tried to speak to him. When Skripnichenko turned away, the man allegedly punched him in the nose. According to the blogger Ilya Varlamov, other activists overheard the assailant shout, “What, you don’t like Putin or something?”

Doctors later diagnosed Skripnichenko with a broken nose. He was discharged at first, but hospitalized again a few days later “to correct complications related to the fracture.”

On August 23, Skripnichenko died. Autopsy results are still unavailable, but “he likely died from a pulmonary embolism,” one of Skripnichenko’s fellow activists told Mediazona.

My bet is someone slipped into his room at the hospital and found a way to make it look like a bad turn.

2. Yes - so many things we'll never know for sure, Ilsa, except that man oh man, good Russian

citizens are just - all of a sudden not alive anymore (not trying to be a smartass, honest).

I'm freaked out tonight about putin's brazen efforts to have Mr. Browder arrested now, plus - will putin's "adversary" (if that is the word), Mr. Novaltny (sp, forgive me), is he going to survive his organizing against putin and all he stands for? - I just - oh - the courage of the People who stand up to these murderers is just breathtaking-

3. I'm surprised by how many Russians

still support putin. I realize that many have no choice. Still, others working in the US seem to like him. I guess a little economic prosperity outweighs murder, torture, the theft of their nation's resources.
