I tend to think of buying lottery tickets as a Stupid Tax. I know what the odds are, but what the hell.

10. I Would Buy a Couple Tickets But...

It's an hour and a half drive one way with about a two hour wait in line. I can't see putting forth that kind of effort for such long odds.

Well, my sisters live in a state where the store selling tickets is about a 5 minute drive away. I'll root for them and take what they give me.

14. I bought, but $1 state lottery odds are often 1/20th what PB & MM are. Win something, than nothing.

You can buy 10 state lottery tickets for the price of 5 Power Ball and Mega Millions tickets.

With odds dropping from hundreds of millions to one to the tens of millions, your odds change from getting impaled by a unicorn on Lief Erickson Day to getting hit by lightning while a shark is nomming on you in the ocean.

Still, it keeps the dream alive.
