(36,854 posts)Youre an environmental activist. Have you considered running for political office?
There was a point last year when I was working for Bernie Sanders where I thought, Huh, maybe Ill run for Congress in a couple years. And you know what? Im not going to rule it out. Who knows? Life is big, and Im young.''

She is an impressive young woman who talks the talk and walks the walk.

(31,827 posts)Seriously - look back at some of her foolishness since 2013/2014. She needs to read, observe, listen, engage. Standing Rock is ONE action that she did a 'good job' on. The rest? Zero maturity and life experience. She doesn't even have to go to university - she could sit down with Robert Redford and take a few lessons from him on how to engage politically and leverage 'celebrity' to help the world.

(6,399 posts)And included her time working with the Sanders campaign.
She shall forever be defined by her actions in 2013/14 by some people as well.
Burn the witch! She'll never learn anyway.
And she'd better listen to the 81-year-old white guy too.

(47,209 posts)Plus it was what - two years ago that she didn't understand feminism or thought it wasn't important. It's nice she's grown out of that, but...

(31,827 posts)And I put her in the same pile as Lena Dunham. And as BettyEllen pointed out below -exactly WHICH seated Democratic is she going to 'unseat' and take it all the way to DC?
This isn't serious. It's a gimmick for publicity. Besides - she herself just said in an interview "women should be soft and silence and still". Um - no. That's not how life works. She's bound to fail before she even starts with that craptastic quitter attitude.
She should stick to the ingénue thing.

(36,854 posts)She made a response to the NYT speculating on the possibilities of her future. I have seen a lot of articles making a mountain out of a molehill regarding her response.
Again, I feel she is an impressive young woman. A woman who will most likely effect change in some shape or form throughout her career. Sad to see people dissing her (not you, obviously). If people keep shitting on younger voters, we are in more trouble than we were last election cycle.
Too much danger in some that operate in that mindset of crapping on those that may want to run. I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes of next year with the engagement we've seen in people looking to run that never thought of it before on the Dem side through things like Indivisible and the workshops that are being run.
These'll be new folks to be sure but they're bringing some great energy and reinvigoration. I hope they aren't shat on.
