Matt Taibbi NAILED who Trump is in Aug 2017. If you're under 60, it may or may not resonate with you

Matt was there in Arizona last night, "live tweeting."

Most of the DUers here under 60 (maybe under 50, I don't know) will have varying degrees of knowledge / memory when it comes to the career of Lenny Bruce.

Short version is that he got busted for obscenity, and it made him go off the rails. Little by little, his substance abuse increased, and his "comedy bits" diminished to the point where they were gone altogether. A "performance" from Lenny at the end of his career largely consisted of his coming onstage with the day's newspapers / magazines in hand, reading articles about his obscenity trial aloud, ranting about the articles, ranting about the charges, just non-stop, unfocused rage-spraying.

Kind of like Trump last night.

Taibbi isn't comparing him to Bruce at his best. I wouldn't do that either. Because at the end of his career, Lenny wasn't really Lenny, he was just anger. That's all that was left. And that is an apt comparison to Trump.

The Bruce comparison might elicit a little sympathy for trump, which he sure as hell isn't entitled to. But I wouldn't expect any better from a Hillary-basher like Taibbi.
