http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/percent-americans-neo-nazis-acceptable-survey-article-1.3430885Nine percent of Americans say neo-Nazi and white supremacist views are acceptable, according to a new survey conducted in the days after the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville.
While an overwhelming 83% of Americans said they opposed the far-right ideology, 9% said it was acceptable. The remaining 8% said they had no opinion, according to a Washington Post- ABC poll.
The poll surveyed 1,014 adults after neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other far-right groups descended on Charlottesville, where James Alex Fields Jr., allegedly drove his car into a crowd of counter-protesters, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer.
President Trump faced a swift backlash for attributing the violence in Charlottesville to both sides and members of his own party publicly criticized his response.
Eight percent had no opinion. WTF. That's almost as disturbing as the 9% figure.

Maybe I'm overestimating humanity, but the concept of Nazism isn't too hard to understand. You either say YAY I'm a horrible human and I endorse it, or NAY I'm a good human and I oppose this.

(9,313 posts)They tout desire for a pure 'white European" nation, but in reality, they reject anyone with an accent. When (if) they noticed that most of Russian is in Asia, they'd freak.
I will never forget a woman interviewed about bilingual education who said "They should have to learn to speak the language of Jesus Christ?" (Or "Why can't they learn to speak the language of Jesus Christ?" ) This epitomizes the level of understanding of the world found among those who promote or endorse the dogma of the reactionary right.
I say they should colonize the Antarctic. It's nice and white.

(9,313 posts)For as long as I can remember, the percentage of Americans who endorse or promote the dogma of the reactionary right has been a fairly consistent 25%. And one of their central themes is "reaction" against the 'dilution' of an ethnically pure, White, Christian, America that never existed. Their level of visibility and influence on political dynamics rises and falls, but they have been "out there," ready to be tapped, for a very, very, long time.
It takes a pretty "confident"/delusional person to openly tell a pollster they agree or somewhat agree. In private, you're right, the figure is probably closer to 25% or so.
