President Obama shocks Mechanicsville market owners (PICS and Video link) - HANOVER TOMATOES

The Hanover Tomato Fetival is this weekend - a HUGE event around here

President Obama stopped at Berry’s Produce on Chamberlayne Road on his way from Richmond International Airport to a campaign stop in Glen Allen Saturday, according to a White House pool report.

“Let’s see what we’ve got,” President Obama said to market owners Bill and Sandra Berry. “I hear the tomatoes are pretty good.”

The Berrys gave President Obama a crash course in selecting the best tomatoes, the pool report indicated. The President spoke with some customers at the market, including a conversation with one woman about energy policy.

Sandra Berry told the pool reporter she was “shocked” when Secret Service contacted her two hours before the President’s visit. The Berrys said they are undecided as to who they wiill vote for in the November election.

Does anyone think he never dealt with tomatoes before?

Now if that had been Romney, I would have understood it because very likely he never *had* gone grocery shopping. But Obama? Really?

Are we that out of touch with reality, or is it stupid writing/reporting? Or maybe there is a trick to detecting good tomatoes that is truly Top Secret and only fit for those in power?

I dunno

asking questions, inviting the owners to talk about one of their passions. This visit shows why President Obama is the opposite of Romney. The President is interested in 'you' whereas Romney is only interested in the self-absorbed "I" discussions.

Although, the unspoken side of that is that there are some tomatoes that are not good and that should be avoided. I don't mean at the vendor next door, but right in that pile. I always wonder about that.
