The 88 universities listed below broadcast sport on 257 Limbaugh stations. Many of those are the loudest stations in the country. There is no excuse for any university or professional sports teams not to begin looking for apolitical radio stations to broadcast sports on.
During the Occupy Wall Street protests Republican talk radio stations constantly attacked protestors. Limbaugh still does. That included regular complaints from hosts and callers that protestors were blocking streets and delaying their commute. It would not be uncommon to hear a caller suggest driving through the protestors and the host ignore it. Ive heard those suggestions on various talk radio stations for years when they were complaining about liberal protestors blocking streets and inconveniencing them, from hosts as well.
Virginia Tech 5, the University of Virginia 1 broadcast sports on 6 Limbaugh stations.
If those universities came to the obvious conclusion that their brands, logos, banners, and mascots were being used to stoke and excuse racism and began the inevitable task of dissociating from them, those stations would begin losing the advertisers that were not willing to completely support Trump and his racist followers.
The talk radio medium is a Wall Mart monopoly-sized seller of racism and lies working for the Republican Party and until it begins to represent the true demand for racism in America it will continue to make racism and other major issues impossible to deal with on a fact-based rational level.
One local talk radio blowhard I sample once in a while, a true idiot but doing 3 hours x 2 on the weekend mornings on a Limbaugh station endorsed by the New Mexico Lobos and in tune with the national racist GOP blowhards, was asking his callers to weigh in this morning on Why cant we all get along? and Are there racists on the left?
Paraphrasing, but very close When we have BLM, and people calling cops pigs, what do you expect?
Thats from AM 770 KKOB, the loudest radio station in New Mexico, and the podcast will probably be up later this week. And then he attacked Colin Kaepernick, and some guy who has a hijab on a statue of liberty, and the sanctuary city concept. And so on.
Starting on Monday versions of that will blast in unison from 1200 radio stations.
The excuses and the equivalency have been going on for years, reaching 50 mil a week. That is why Trump even got close to the White House. That is why those white supremacists and nazis felt empowered to demonstrate Saturday. They will continue to support and enable Trumps excuses and equivalency and the other fascists and racists in the White House.
Many of those stations, maybe 1/3 or more and most of the loudest ones, depend on these 88 + universities and a lot of pro sports teams to keep broadcasting sports on them.
