More evidence on the base motivation of Tea Partiers

My son's grandfather is 76 (not my father). He has been a Democrat his entire life, from my knowledge.

Starting in 2008, he became Republican. While with my son the other day, he applauded a Tea Party demonstration by a shopping mall. The only reason we (my son and I) know of, is, um, President Obama's race. No other reason. He was a racist before President Obama was elected and, voila`, now he's a Tea Partier. He's voting for Rmoney this year. I wonder why.

My father died several years ago. He was a diehard Dem and a bigot (not so much racist...hard to explain). I often wonder how he'd feel about our President. I think he'd like him. Or, by this time, he would have grown on him. Either way, he would have voted for him. My father would never have considered voting Republican or not voting. He would have been thoroughly disgusted with the teapers. He would have seen their disrespect as unpatriotic and unAmerican. Even during Watergate, my father would never say anything negative about Nixon. He hated the man, but it was our President and he deserved the respect of the office.
