Answer: nothing
No, really this is a honest question, and looking for a reply from someone who is rational.
I am only emotional on the subject. Is there a difference?

(24,771 posts)So is "white nationalism."
So it's time to quit the euphemisms. Let's call those violent bigots out as the evil terrorists they are.

There are many of them and some overlap but you get the idea...

Randian hyper individualist afficiandos
Birchers
Patriot Movement
Militia groupies
Tax protesters and scam artists

The KKK is the oldest conservative/reactionary, white, christian terrorist organization in the US.

(6,139 posts)but it also implies a strategy of converting GOP into far (alt) right party. Bannon has a lot to do with consolidating these dark forces. Trump would have never ever won the election without the alt right support. Rep.king of iowa is a good example of the movement. Alt right has gone mainstream in WH, the ideology is widely imposed by trump, bannon, miller, sessions, pence, etc.
Folks in power like to have token blacks or jews that help them to argue they are not racist (Carson, Kushner).

(2,301 posts)Alt-right is just more "post-modern" white supremacy, so if anything it's even more obnoxious while being equally evil.

(13,081 posts)To categorize the younger people who would have been called Tea Partiers if they were a few years older. But instead of ridiculous hats, they've got Internet memes and online trolling. They pride themselves on being Shit Lords.
And some of them, the ones I've gotten to know in real life, mostly just like to stir shit up, cause chaos, and upset people. For at least SOME of these people, the trolling just got out of hand and moved into real life.
Most of them are run of the mill fascists and racists, though.
