The Obama campaign is challenging Mitt Romney to release more information about his taxes and time at Bain Capital in order to put to bed questions raised by SEC filings regarding his role at the company.

“If the SEC filings aren’t accurate, then prove it,” Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter told reporters on Thursday. “If he wasn’t investing millions of dollars in shell corporations, tax havens, Swiss bank accounts overseas to gain a tax advantage, then prove it. Prove it by releasing your tax returns.”

he has a massive pile of money and a sympathetic media (which is owned by the same people giving him the money, of course).

It goes without saying that the interview was soft, but they were not able to spin it when it was over. The coverage I saw a few minutes ago admitted that he did not do a good job, but of course they said he would improve and should do more interviews. I like the way they act as his coach and give him advice. Still, it was an improvement over yesterday when John King and David Gergen both stated flatly that there was nothing to the story at all

At the very least he could have given some sort of waffling "It's very disappointing that the US Olympic uniforms weren't made here in the United States by American workers. Hopefully some resolution can be reached on this issue before the games."

You know, a non-answer answer.

I would be 100% rooting for Ron Paul.

Can you imagine the absolute chaos it would cause in the Republican party if Romney walked into the convention as the "heir apparent", but Ron Paul walked out the actual nominee? I would happily *pay* money to see that happen. It would make their entire party look like a bunch of disorganized clowns.
