"8 out of 10 companies that Bain bought were fine, the other two were so far gone that Romney

had to get rid of them." -- My grandmother, a Democrat, circa ten minutes ago.

She asked me, what do you think now that Bain capital is not such a bad thing?

I said "I think Roger Ailes tells you exactly what you want to hear."

My mom, a progressive Democrat, said that she can't believe that my grandmother supports Romney.

"I have no choice." my grandmother said.

I said "Yes, because what we need now is more tax cuts for the rich, ban abortion, ban gay marriage, and getting rid of science in our schools."

My grandmother said that she should slap me for saying that.

Then she said, I don't know why you two (My mom and I) are still talking about Condi Rice, she's a great VP candidate.

My dad, a loyal Republican, is really concerned now. He lives by two principles: 1) Never vote for a Black person and 2) Never vote for a woman.

So, my dad is particularly incensed about the fact that Romney might select Condi Rice. "Can you believe that Romney is going to select that woman, Condi Rice?" he fumed.

I generally don't talk politics with my family but my mom brought up Condi Rice and I just couldn't resist. Both she and I are progressive Democrats, so I figured it would be safe game with her. Well, my grandmother, who is a Fox News Democrat happened to hear me talking about Bain and got out of bed to come explain to me how Bain is just sooo great and Romney is such a good guy.

My credo has always been this: Amongst friends and family, never talk politics or religion. But somehow my wingnut family drug me into it.
