Which may have more to do with Trump's tweetstorm today than Blumenthal's appearance on CNN this morning.
From Jeffrey Toobin's New Yorker article, June 20:
Emphasis added.
____________
Editing after doing more research this evening, after not being able to find out more earlier to confirm that August 14 date.
Link to the Wikipedia article on the lawsuit:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blumenthal_v._Trump
According to that, there is an August 14 deadline for official action, resulting from the lawsuit being served on June 14, and the 60-day limit mentioned here:
https://www.federalrulesofcivilprocedure.org/frcp/title-iii-pleadings-and-motions/rule-12-defenses-and-objections-when-and-how-presented-motion-for-judgment-on-the-pleadings-consolidating-motions-waiving-defenses-pretrial-hearing/
But also according to the Wikipedia article, both the defendant, Trump, and the plaintiffs have requested extensions of time:
http://ia801507.us.archive.org/30/items/gov.uscourts.dcd.187220/gov.uscourts.dcd.187220.11.0.pdf
So I'm not sure what court action, if any, will result from the date mentioned for next week.
OTOH, Trump still has to be very aware of that pending lawsuit, and Blumenthal's name at the top of it.

(7,220 posts)Emoluments is a big deal because it's one thing dump's base can understand: Corrupt politicians enriching themselves.
They thought for once the rich guy was going to help them, but this is going to help clear up what's really motivating their hero with the big promises.

(58,352 posts)This SOB - and the entire GOP evil cabal that support this POS - need to be taken down hard, cruelly, and absolutely.
But as I've said before, taking down Trump without also taking down Pence, Ryan, and Tillerson is a waste of effort. We're actually better off with the POS we have now than allowing an actually intelligent and clever GOP-er to take his place.

(19,204 posts)will piss the American people off more than getting a peek at Trump's tax returns. I think some of his cult might even find it offensive. Now wouldn't that be sweet?

which wouldn't happen until some time next year, it is far from clear that the court will require Trump to give the plaintiffs his tax returns and if the court does, the public is not
going to see them because they will be covered by a protective order.

(19,204 posts)Trump's lawyers are that capable? From what I've seen of them so far, they don't look like the sharpest tools in the shed. They may surprise me though, and a lot of other people as well. Hopefully the State law suits will bear fruit long before Mueller's team strikes at Trump. I'd love to see him found guilty in two States, AND in Federal Court. Then we'll see if Donnie Darko can pardon himself, like he thinks he can.

(42,769 posts)First, the complaint was filed on June 14 but wasn't served until June 19. The 60 day period for filing an answer or other response (such as a motion to dismiss) is August 18.
Second, the deadline is for the filing of a written answer or motion to dismiss -- no one will be appearing in court in person.
Third, as the OP indicates, the plaintiffs and the defendants have filed a joint request for a new schedule that begins with the filing of a new, amended complaint by the plaintiffs on August 15 and goes on from there, with the last written pleading due in mid-November. No decision is going to come until some time after that.
