Donald Trumps astonishing New York Times interview from July 19, which first telegraphed his threat to get rid of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, has not led to Sessions departure at least not yet. But it did highlight something basic about how the president operates, a method that has swept away chief of staff Reince Priebus, press secretary Sean Spicer and communications director Anthony Scaramucci, the latter dismissed before he could unpack his boxes.
Its not just that Trumps loyalty is only to himself, as should have been obvious given the scores of associates hes wooed, ripped off and discarded over his long career, including his own lawyers, at times. Rather, its the centrality of this cycle to the way that Trump operates ...
There was also the matter of how Trump justifies the prospective discarding of associates, and how he lays predicates for wooing, ripping off and discarding the next crop of eager, willing victim/accomplices ... But .. this intended discarding can only be appreciated in terms of the larger pattern a pattern that has received far too little notice, given how much attention has been given to Trumps mental health, or lack thereof ...
Theres been a great deal of commentary about Trumps apparent psychological abnormalities, but Snakes in Suits describes a particular pattern that stands out for the combination of clarity it brings to bear and the broad scope of action it describes. This pattern consists of a three-phase game plan many psychopaths in corporate settings use a when engaging with victims ...
First, they assess the value of individuals to their needs, and identify their psychological strengths and weaknesses. Second, they manipulate the individuals (now potential victims) by feeding them carefully crafted messages, while constantly using feedback from them to build and maintain control. Not only is this an effective approach to take with most people, it also allows psychopaths to talk their way around and out of any difficulty quickly and effectively if confronted or challenged. Third, they leave the drained and bewildered victims when they are bored or otherwise through with them ...

(1,336 posts)Was it PT Barnum who said that? Whoever it was knew exactly what he was talking about. Why are so many people taken in by preachers who live in vast estates and have their own private jets, and even have the nerve to ask their "flock" to send more money to pay the fuel costs? What did Jim Jones offer, to keep his "flock" intact and drink the koolaid? And to be a bit more specific, why do so many folks around the world, in pretty much every country, believe in their preferred version of "God"?
There are probably almost as many reasons why people voted for Trump as there are people who did vote for Trump. Everything may be personal, but when you have so-called leaders in your community, or your church, or your fraternal organization etc., or simply your living room boob tube telling you one thing, discernment tends to take a back seat to reality.
Just my 3 cents (Cdn) this fine Sunday evening!

(31,261 posts)One only have to compare job creation and stock market reaction in August 2008 to August 2017. In August 2008 the Trump voter blamed Obama for the economy and ignored the trainwreck Bush had left. Today, they blame Obama for anything bad while assigning credit for jobs and the stockmarket being at historic highs to Trump. You can bet that if Trump's policies tank jobs and the stockmarket, they will blame Obama with red faces of anger. They simply are not rational.

(53,410 posts)an airplane, and glitzy buildings with his name on them standing tall with his name emblazoned on them. They see his beautiful wife and his golfing clubs and his obviously rich lifestyle. No one outdoes that image for Trump. They see that he will make them just like him. Rich, famous and obviously special to God.
They want to be him. Or what they think he is. They don't want to work for it though. They want him to bestow it on them the way God bestows it on him.
Besides, if God loves him so much then it certainly can't hurt your chances with God if you kiss His anointed one's ass.

(51,610 posts)There was an article in Raw Story from Aug 3rd by Bobby Azaria and it made perfect sense. Basically it is all about personality and not the issues as we already knew. Mainly they like authoritarian leaders to follow and who promote prejudiced beliefs(mainly racist and sexist) in order to maintain their own feelings of superiority since they feel their status is entitled. They are also aggressive bullies and they feed off of this hatred with fellow supporters and are encouraged to do so by their thuggish leader.
If anyone wants to work for him it is only for the power, prestige and money even though they often don't even like him in the first place. They have no self respect or personal integrity but that goes for many who are involved in politics as a living. Kellyanne is a prime example. She was caught on a live mic saying, "Yuck, now I have to go take a hot shower" after singing his praises on Morning Joe.

(51,610 posts)A few people (on DU and in the media) have asked if they think @IMPOTUS will leave office willingly if he is either impeached or through the 25 Amend. And if not, will he convince his base to become violent as a form of protest. I have little doubt that will happen. To what degree is the question.

(49,007 posts)... petty violent: verbal abuse and the like. There is a lot of bluster, but some are serious.
Now, to be clear, I am not advocating nor planning such a dreadful thing, but I suppose someone might be.

and (with emphasis added) from the same thread (was about impaneling grand jury) with a few other posts from it that are just plain looney (FR is becoming fun again to read lately):
The corruption and treason are so pervasive that there is no peaceful solution possible.

Under Nancy Piglosi and Chuck U. Shoomer they are a broken party held together solely by a biased media.
They isolated over half of their base when the DNC destroyed Seth Rich. There is now a 690 million dollar lawsuit against the DNC by other dems for screwing over Bernie Sanders and killing Seth Rich. The Becks, both are lawyers, in South Fla. are behind it.
Where are those people voting Democrat going to go? Are they going to rush out and vote for the next obama type cabal created candidate?Maybe, maybe not.
I still see us as a viable Republican Party under Trump who is always ten steps ahead of any of us.
