Chelsea Clinton says she is donating to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in the wake of Attorney General Jeff Sessions's announcement on Friday of a government-wide effort to crackdown on leaks.
Part of the crackdown involves a Justice Department review of its policies on subpoenaing media organizations that publish leaked sensitive information.
The ACLU swiftly condemned the Sessions's announcement as an attempt to clamp down on press freedom.
Every American should be concerned about the Trump administrations threat to step up its efforts against whistleblowers and journalists," said Ben Wizner, the director of the ACLU's Speech, Privacy and Technology Project. "A crackdown on leaks is a crackdown on the free press and on democracy as a whole."

(51,615 posts)Congress is making sure of that. Therefore GET RID OF SESSIONS!
But I hope the "forfeiture of assets" reversal is completed first though. If the rich GOP bastards and campaign staff involved with Russia get nailed by Mueller they could lose their ill gotten booty as well as going to jail.

(28,808 posts)i donate all over the place but haven't given to ACLU since they came out opposed to the prosecution of the Bush administration. i'm still mad at them for that! jeez we wouldn't be here today...but i digress.
my son won't support them because they defended the KKK in a free speech case years ago. i'm over that.
i had my very own professional protest sign made. It's a partial quote from John Adams, "...a nation of laws, not men..." and the entire text of the 1st amendment. so, okay, i will give to ACLU today
