New law in Florida regarding child abuse.

Because of the Paterno-Sandusky scandal, starting in October if you don't report child abuse you will be facing a felony. I think this applies to public schools, not sure.

I heard it on cfnews channel 13.

I checked the net and came up with the following,

http://www.planning.leon.k12.fl.us/Policies/7-17adopted.pdf

but if you look at the bottom at the effective dates of changes, this has been around for a while. Anyone have the reading of the new law?

There are no options for a teacher who even suspects abuse is taking place. The teacher is obligated by law to report. I cannot remember the penalties. But, it does include losing ones job, which for a teacher means losing ones career.
