I say that every time I'm forced to hear him speak. He is impervious to the truth, not exactly a desirable trait for public office - or human being.

He ponied up $25 million to "win" the Trump "University" lawsuit.

He got away with the Access Hollywood remarks and ended up as President.

He's stiffed contractors.

He's a serial liar, and enough Americans believed his lies to put him in the Oval Office.

The rage and paranoia and erratic behavior we are seeing now is the result of him convincing himself that he has always evaded consequences, and that he will continue to do so.

I hope Robert Mueller has the goods.

Unless three ghosts decide to visit him in the night, but I realize that's a long shot. It's just that he is above and beyond the worst nightmare that we could have imagined. Anyone who can support his egregious speech and actions has to have been in a coma for the last six months - or is a recently landed space alien. I sure hope that Mueller has the goods. It's aggravating that it's taking so long, but then there is so much!

You can always get worse.

Conservatism isn't really an ideology, it is a longing to go back to some mythical time when "things made sense". Unfortunately, in the real world of the US, for conservatives, that means a time when White Christian Men were more powerful, minorities "knew their place", women were mere accessories, and the wealthy could use the rest of us for fodder.

Conservatives talk about "personal responsibility" yet they never own their mistakes or their problems. They preach "free market solutions, yet try to legislate in ways that advantage the largest, wealthiest businesses over all others. They discuss family values, but get caught in diapers with hookers, forcing their mistresses to have abortions, flying on the taxpayers' dime to see their mistress in Argentina, and other hypocritical acts. Then they legislate in ways that make it harder for families to survive and stay together. They are for "small government" except for trying to legislate women's reproduction, intruding in people's bedrooms, dictating who can an cannot enter into legal contract of marriage, forcing particular brands of Christianity into the public square, and various other pet projects.

Unfortunately, there is quite a ways further that it can get worse. We are somewhat fortunate that Trump is such an unstable idiot. If we had a person who was as morally bankrupt as Trump, but actually had some charisma and talent. We'd pretty well be fucked.

can kick the PM out, force to resign, if things get rotten, even before the election. It is so hard to change the US Constitution, unlikely to Amend it for a long time, in this politically divided country.

Wed Aug 2, 2017, 10:19 PM

If he never said it, the denial would have been immediate.

The delay is logical. He probably contacted the people who heard it at the golf course and either threatened them or otherwise persuaded them to now deny it.

The problem with nailing Trump is that he's been doing this forever, a lifelong bullshitter as Fareed accurately described. So when there's seemingly damning evidence against him he's already got a well practiced method to conceal and deny, and a legion of stupefied devotees who swallow on cue.

34. I keep questioning what I have thought about him
Thu Aug 3, 2017, 01:08 AM
Aug 2017

I once saw him has a useful fool who is so self absorbed he can be can be tricked or guided a little if something gives him and ego charge. Now, I'm wondering if he is actually being sadistically capricious and seeing just how far he can go in shocking people. Abusing the entire country (world even) with "jokes" funny only to his twisted mind, for his own entertainment, does not strike me as being beyond what he would consider inappropriate.

It would be in keeping with the reality TV crap if he thought of himself as using real people as toys. Most of his staff must be tortured trying to run a functional WH. I think he's mean enough, but I'm not sure that he is clever enough to come up with this running list of the most absurd and outrageous things said by a POTUS. But, I don't think he is serious. It could be some sort of bizarre last manipulative harrah with a major ego high. I think it's clear he really had no interest in doing the job.

He is making a mess of all of us. We are terrified, perplexed, confused.... just all around uncomfortable in varying ways and degrees. Even some republicans seem to be worrying and wishing it would end. Even those who have been willing to pay any price to have the full power of all 3 branches may be having some doubts about this route they have taken?
